Belajar dari 'Barista'

Hari minggu yang lalu saat saya pergi ke toko buku saya melihat sebuah buku dengan desain yang khas The Starbucks Experience, 5 Prinsip untuk Mengubah Hal Biasa menjadi Luar Biasa. Buku tersebut disegel jadi tidak bisa saya intip isinya tapi hati saya memaksa "take that book!". Jadi saya beli buku tersebut. Cukup lama saya mendengar reputasi Starbucks yang mendorong banyak perusahaan, pekerja, atau pemimpin untuk meniru manajemen yang diterapkan Starbucks.

Sepertinya kata hati saya berkata benar, saya sangat menikmati buku tersebut mungkin sama seperti pelanggan Starbucks menikmati layanan ala Starbucks. Tidak seperti biasanya saya membaca buku dengan kecepatan super kilat, kali ini entah dorongan apa yang memaksa saya banyak mengisi highlight pada buku yang saya baca.

Mungkin sedikit teoritis, tapi buku dengan kalimat-kalimat lugas dan contoh pengalaman-pengalaman yang disertakan membuat saya merasa sangat menikmati membaca buku tersebut halaman demi halaman.Beberapa memang bersentuhan dengan pengalaman yang saya alami dan...menariknya adalah jika seorang Barista mampu mendeliver pola kerja yang nyaman mengapa kita tidak mampu atau berusaha untuk mendeliver yang terbaik?

Suatu kali saya akan coba berbagi cerita dan pengalaman saya dengan sentuhan ala buku Starbucks tersebut.

the book should be classified as a "sci-fi" book.....please check out www.ihatestarbucks.com or www.starbucksgossips.com to know the real experience.....
I personally never get the same experience mentioned in the book...the business theory is good, but it's all just a theory....Howard Schultz once said that "You'll never find *bucks products in supermarket"....and believe me there's a lot of it in the supermarket...He also said that they will discard the coffee bean after 10 days of roasting as it wasn't fresh any longer...They roast the bean in Seattle, do you know how long the shipping take from Seattle to Indonesia is? By the sea, it takes normally more than a month, by the air it will cost too much for a cup of coffee......Within the US the coffee might be fresh, but here? A pale coffee is what you paid for...
When I visited *bucks I feel like an uneducated person trying to understand their coffee language which is different from international/Italian standard.
International coffee connoisseurs agreed that *buck coffee bean is burnt, not dark roasted...
They say that they care about the environmental issue but they keep using plastic cups, do they buy back the plastic cups to be recycled? Hell no...
Do you know what they do to the other cafe (competitor)? Most of the time they buy the cafe and close it down and build their own shop there, that's why you can find another *bucks shop just across the road....being a greedy capitalist....

I am a barista, I make authentic Italian coffee...

Thank you for the comment, actually I wrote my experience about reading the book and not the experiences of how starbucks run their business in deeply. It's okay for you to write out about what you don't like with, but let me know that the book also telling a lesson that worth for some people to learn. I don't care if starbucks run a dirty business or not, but the most important things is that we learn what the good and waste the worst thing.
